Logline

Against the backdrop of rising violence and social fragmentation in the UK, six Britons embark on a transformational journey across India to rediscover how to build trust, belonging and ignite the human bonds needed to heal a divided Britain.

The Challenge

Britain is facing a quiet but profound crisis of trust — between communities and institutions, between generations, and between citizens themselves. Rising knife crime, addiction, social alienation, and cultural anxiety are not isolated issues; they are symptoms of a deeper loss of belonging.

From India With Love – UK Edition follows six Britons from diverse walks of life as they embark on a two-week journey across India to explore how fractured societies heal — and how trust can be rebuilt from within.

The participants include a young Eastern European immigrant woman who survived knife violence, a former gang member seeking redemption, a British-born Indian (Sikh) police officer working to rebuild community trust, a school educator concerned about the growing influence of drugs on youth wellbeing, and a high-profile British professional cricketer reflecting on leadership, influence, and responsibility beyond fame and a social justice activist navigating identity, inclusion, and burnout.

Though their lives differ, they are united by a shared question:

What does belonging mean in Britain today — and how do we rebuild it?

The Journey Across India

Guided by Indian wisdom teacher Mandar Apte, the group journeys across India — encountering an ancient culture that has long grappled with diversity, inequality, and coexistence.

In Delhi, they experience how people of different faiths and backgrounds live side by side amid complexity and contradiction. In Amritsar, they immerse themselves in the Sikh tradition of seva (selfless service) at the Golden Temple, witnessing a living model of dignity, equality, and community care. The journey then takes the to South India, where ancient temple traditions reveal how architecture, ritual, and philosophy were designed to cultivate inner balance alongside social order. Near the Tamil Nadu–Kerala border, the group engages with indigenous tribal communities, learning how earlier cultures lived in deeper harmony with nature, land, and collective responsibility.

Through unscripted conversations, cultural immersion, shared rituals, and contemplative practices, participants confront their fears, assumptions, and inner fractures. Slowly, trust begins to re-emerge — not as an abstract idea, but as a lived human experience.

The Outcome

From India With Love – UK edition is envisioned as a feature-length documentary (60–90 minutes), that will also be adapted into six short companion films (10min each), each focused on one of the six participants. These will be developed with social impact partners and educators to support dialogue and curriculum-based programmes that promote wellbeing, compassion, and social cohesion across schools and communities.

From India With Love – UK Edition is a cinematic exploration of healing in a divided age. At a time when Britain is searching for new ways to live with difference, the film offers a simple but powerful reminder: peace and cohesion are not imposed by policy alone — they are cultivated and practiced, person by person.
