Six Japanese individuals, each carrying their own quiet struggles, embark on a profound journey of healing across India—a land known not only for its ancient wisdom, but also its deep compassion for the human soul.
From the solitude of a hikikomori youth, to the silent exhaustion of a corporate worker; from the quiet grief of an elderly widow to the inner search of a young creative soul—these participants reflect the silent emotional burdens many in Japan carry, often in isolation.
Guided by Indian spiritual mentor Mandar Apte and longtime Japan resident and cultural bridge-builder Nupur Tewari, the group travels across India in search of stillness, meaning, and connection. Along the way, they are embraced by the warmth of Indian communities, immersed in age-old rituals, and exposed to the timeless teachings of yoga, meditation, and mindful service.
Their path weaves through sacred spaces—from the meditative calm of Bodh Gaya and Sarnath, to the flowing grace of the Ganges River in Rishikesh, to the global village of Auroville, and the vibrant chaos of Mumbai. In each place, they are offered tools not to escape their pain, but to transform it—with presence, breath, and love.

As they open their hearts through vulnerable conversations and gentle silence, walls begin to dissolve. Unseen wounds find space to breathe. Joy and trust return. Through shared meals, spontaneous laughter, and moments of deep reflection, they rediscover what it means to feel, to belong, and to hope.
The film reaches its emotional crescendo with a riverside ceremony—a sacred offering of release and renewal—where each participant reflects on their transformation. Their words reveal that healing is not found in fixing the past, but in embracing the present with compassion.
From India With Love – Japanese Edition is a poetic, meditative documentary about healing—not as a destination, but as a return to the self. It is a cross-cultural offering of peace and possibility, reminding us that even in a world that feels disconnected, we can awaken together—and choose love.
