Six diverse Brazilians travel across India on a journey of cultural exchange and inner transformation, in a quest to learn new ways of addressing modern challenges of youth, identity, and reconciliation.
Context
At a time when societies across the world are navigating polarization, youth alienation, environmental stress, and social fragmentation, this documentary film creates a living bridge between Brazil and India — two ancient cultures shaped by spirituality, community, and deep ancestral traditions.
Each participant carries a deeply personal story of struggle and resilience — a mid career footballer seeking to inspire youth beyond sport, a widely respected actress who acted in a Brazilian series about India, a favela-based female activist confronting drug violence, a former gang member looking at healing and transforming his community, a queer artist exploring identity and belonging, an Indigenous rainforest guardian preserving ancestral medicine.
Together, they represent Brazil’s diversity, resilience, and moral imagination.
Co-hosted by Acharya Jonas Masetti, one of Brazil’s foremost teachers of Vedantic wisdom, and Mandar Apte, Indian peacebuilder and founder of the From India With Love movement, the film embodies a powerful model of people-to-people diplomacy rooted in shared humanity. The participants travel across India to heal, reflect, and reconnect — not only with their own truth, but also with each other and with the timeless wisdom of inner peace.
The Journey Across India
The journey begins in Chennai, where participants encounter the vibrancy of urban India before journeying south to the sacred temple city of Madurai, where ritual, architecture, and centuries-old traditions invite reflection on faith, identity, and belonging.
Traveling by train through rural landscapes, participants engage in candid conversations with everyday Indians — farmers, students, families — discovering shared struggles and shared dignity across continents.
In Ujjain’s Mahakal Corridor, one of India’s most sacred spiritual spaces, the group reflects on impermanence, ego, and renewal — themes central to both personal transformation and societal healing.
In rural Rajasthan, the delegation experiences tribal hospitality, storytelling, music, and traditional cooking. Brazilian participants share their own Indigenous heritage and ancestral knowledge, culminating in a co-created fire ceremony that honors both Brazilian and Indian traditions.
The journey culminates in the Himalayas at Rishikesh, by the sacred River Ganga. Here, they experience an ancient water-and-fire ritual, and reflect on what they are ready to release — and what they will carry forward as Ambassadors of Peace. Participants also share an ancient Brazilian fire ritual, Indigenous wisdom, music, and stories with their Indian hosts — making this journey a true two-way cultural exchange.
From India With Love – Brazilian Edition is not just a documentary film — it is a heartfelt tribute to the human spirit. It is based on our conviction that when ancient civilizations meet in humility and dialogue, they do not compete — they collaborate. And in that collaboration, new pathways for peace and social cohesion emerge. The film celebrates the power of ancient cultures to heal modern wounds, and invites a global audience to imagine a world where we choose dialogue over division, and reconciliation over revenge.
Join the Movement
We envision the From India With Love – Brazil Edition as a 60–90 minute feature-length documentary film, capturing the emotional arc and intercultural insights of the journey.
In addition, we will also produce a series of six character-driven short films, (of approx. 10min each) focused on the transformation of the individual participants. These short films will be complemented by educational content to engage relevant stakeholder groups (supported by facilitation guides and reflection frameworks) to sustain long-term impact and promote peace, compassion and cohesion.
We invite you to be part of the change that we seek in the world.
