Six diverse Australians embark on an extraordinary two-week quest for healing and reconciliation across India, a land renowned for its spiritual wisdom and ancient traditions. Each person brings a unique story of pain, resilience, and hope, reflecting the multifaceted nature of violence and the universal quest for healing.
These pilgrims may be survivors of domestic violence, refugees, former gang members, war veterans, law enforcement officers, youth, educators, and indigenous leaders. They are bound together by their personal exposure to violence and their desire to reinvigorate conversations about compassion and nonviolence in Australia.
The journey is guided by Indian wisdom teacher Mandar Apte, who shares deep practical insights that help the participants to heal and reconcile. Against a vivid backdrop from Mumbai’s busy street markets to historic city of Hampi and the serenity of the Ganges River in Varanasi, participants have meaningful conversations with local communities; and partake in cultural rituals and profound meditation practices for deeper healing and transformation.

Via candid, unscripted interactions and moments of introspection, through laughter and tears, the participants learn to confront past traumas and prejudices. They find common ground in their shared humanity, fostering bonds that transcend their differences and diverse backgrounds.
Against the backdrop of an ancient river worshipping ceremony, the film culminates with powerful reflections by participants regarding empathy, compassion, transformation and hope. Their transformational experiences demonstrate that even in the face of violence, we can invoke love and compassion – helping us pave the way for a better future.
This soul-stirring documentary is a testament to the indomitable human spirit. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, we can choose love, we can choose compassion, and in doing so, we can change the world.
